The John R. Tate Advocacy Center (formerly known as the Victim's Assistance Center of Kankakee County) is a public (government) and private (not-for-profit) organization committed to ease the emotional, physical, financial, and spiritual pain of crime victims in a compassionate and professional way. The Center also serves as an educator and advocate against victimization.

A full-time, part-time, contract, and volunteer staff attends to the needs of the citizens of Kankakee County and the surrounding areas by providing the following services:

Crisis Intervention for victims/witnesses/families affected by crime

Advocacy to guide those so-affected through the criminal justice system

           Financial aid when applicable

Monitoring of the Kankakee County court system

           Free dispute resolution services/mediations

           Parenting seminars

           Referrals

These services are provided through the Advocacy Center or the City of Kankakee Police Social Services or a combination of both agencies. Click a link below to review the services offered by each group, or try our interactive form to determine which service or services best fit your needs.
